Mtaro Estate is located off Nairobi-Thika highway, 10km along Juja-Gatundu road in Kiaora Location, Juja district, Kiambu county about 40kms North of Nairobi in the aberdare ranges 1600m (Above sea level).
Drying is conducted in two phases: the wet to black stage rapid step and the black to white stage conducted slowly and well monitored. If the parchment is not turned continuously or the covered during high temperatures spoilage of the parchment may occur.
Moisture is regularly monitored using moisture meter on site and the target is to achieve moisture content of between 10.5-11% for the coffee to be ready for milling. There are conditioning bins for storage of coffee awaiting delivery to mill.Â
